Our Story – The Legacy of Sprinters Coffee

At the heart of every cup of Sprinters Coffee lies a story of resilience, passion, heritage, and sustainability. Ours is a family-run business, built not just on coffee, but on the strength of a journey that spans continents and generations.

Our family fled Somalia during the civil war, seeking safety and a new beginning in Kenya. It was here that my father’s lifelong love for coffee truly flourished. Already a caffeine enthusiast back in Somalia, he transformed that habit into a passion — selling Arabic coffee, known locally as gahwa, to our community. Over time, he expanded beyond traditional brewing to explore different coffee types and preparation methods, driven by curiosity and a desire to share more with the people around him.

What started as a modest venture soon became a family mission: to celebrate Kenya’s rich coffee heritage, ensure farmers are paid fairly, and select only the finest beans the country has to offer. Every cup of coffee we make is one of heritage, story, passion, hard work, and human connection — a true reflection of the people and places behind it. We are hands-on at every stage — from crop to cup — ensuring the quality in your mug reflects the values we live by.

Why Kenyan Coffee?

Kenya produces some of the most exceptional coffee in the world, thanks to its unique combination of geography, climate, and farming expertise. Grown in fertile volcanic soils at high altitudes — often between 1,500–2,100 meters above sea level — Kenyan coffee benefits from cooler temperatures that slow bean development, leading to denser, more flavour-packed cherries. Ample rainfall, abundant sunshine, and traditional hand-picking methods further enhance quality.

Kenyan coffee is celebrated for its vibrant acidity, juicy sweetness, and complex layers of flavour. Expect notes of blackcurrant, citrus, and tropical fruits, often with floral aromatics and a silky body. Each region offers its own character — from the deep, winey richness of Nyeri to the delicate floral tones of Kirinyaga. This complexity is no accident; it is the result of generations of knowledge, meticulous processing (often fully washed and sun-dried), and a national dedication to excellence that has made Kenya a benchmark for specialty coffee worldwide.
